Margaret began her work with the Institute in 2008. In her current role, as Program Administrator, she develops, and implements innovative science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs for K-12 and college students, as well as for the general public. These include the IIN Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program, the All Scout Nano Days, Nano Bootcamps for Clinicians, Nanotechnology Town Hall Meetings, and STEM & Sports Day (in partnership with Northwestern Athletics). Margaret also organizes and manages the Ryan Fellowship Program and the IIN Postdoctoral Fellows Program, provides administrative assistance for all Institute-wide events, and acts as a second-line editor for grant proposals.
Her outgoing personality and previous work experience in program management and community outreach, including work in radio and at the Archdiocese of Chicago, provides a winning foundation for her work at the Institute. In her spare time, Margaret enjoys bike riding (weather permitting) reading, and watching classic movies with her husband Mark.
